Sobek is formed in the spring of 2006 as a project. Guitarist Matthijs Snoek started with a friend of him, Lennart van Meegen also guitarist, and after played some songs together they agree to make a band. So they ask a other friend, Joris van den Bosch, for playing the drums. And after trying out some bass players, Gerrit van den Berg finished the band.
We wrote some tracks and had some gigs. And in the summer of 2007 we decide to make a cd. We recorded our first cd, Awakening of a God, in 6 days. All songs are instrumental. And in November 2007 we presented it to the public in our hometown.
After that we made some new instrumental tracks. And in June 2008 we decide to take a vocalist. Not long after that Nancy Beiland joined the band.
And at the moment we’re busy make new tracks with lyrics for our new cd.
Sobek plays melodious/power metal and want to show the world their way of making Rock ‘n Roll!
