Band Members: I've played in a lot of different situations, from top 40/R&B/Funk/Hip-Hop, to progressive metal, to country, to the ZZ Top tribute band that I used to play with, (Check out the pictures - I'm the one in the back that looks like a 70s porn star. .... damn you, Frank Beard, and your mullet, too!), to the Journey tribute band that I quit after 2 weeks :) .... I guess, at the end of the day, I'm just a music fan, and I love it all. I'm working with some great original bands now (check my top friends) and hoping I've found a home.
Influences: Some are influences, some are inspirations: Mike Mangini, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Neil Peart, Hank Guaglianone (from Sonia Dada -- check 'em out, they're baaad), Alex Van Halen, Mark Zonder, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe, all of JB's funky drummers, and all the brothas in the funk brothers.
Sounds Like: So, what do I sound like? I'm all groove, baby. I played in an R&B/funk/hip-hop band for about four years, and I loved it. It shaped my playing, in many ways. Now, if you want polyrhythms, odd times, and double bass, I can do that, too, but ...... it's still gotta groove.
