Brett is a local Gunditjmara/kirrae whurrong songman, from south west Victoria with over 30 original songs.
He started playing keyboard from an early age. His songwriting career started from writing rap songs, with his keyboard.
Brett has been writing his inspirational songs from his early teens. He has been writing for 19 years and performing his own material for 7 years. Brett was brought up on the Framlingham Aboriginal mission and this is where he draws his strong cultural and environmental theme from.
‘Keep the Dream Alive’ was inspired by Brett’s late Grandfather Banjo Clarke who had a great influence on his upbringing, and this album reflects the words of wisdom and stories he was told as a child.
Then in secondary school he saved up all of his hard earned money, & bought
a torch vintage serious electric guitar.
He started jamin, making up his own bass lines, rymths & rymthms, about his people, motherearth, yantapoona( the sun ), pernmeyal( the gigantic god)
In 2000 his career took off when he signed up for a music industry course, and started playin gigs at various venues within his home town.
After his mother Patricia recorded her album in 2002 titled " keep the fires burning" he has toured around Victoria at various festivals, schools, & fuctions, always enjoying what he does.
He has just received funding from australian arts council, to record his 1st long awaited album.
