About Me

Music for film and televisionwww.atomicchili.com /Michael J. Gonzales is a film composer/filmmaker living in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. Since his teens he has worked professionally as a keyboardist on a wide range of jobs, some taking him to the far ends of the earth. Local jobs have included Maria Conchita Alonso's show "Al Dia Maria" and the Comedy Store. The comedy club was an amazing experience and he will always remember those memorable nights playing up comic legends such as Jim Carrey, Chris Tucker, Carlos Mencia and Andrew Dice Clay. After years on the road and club work, Michael turned his attention to film scoring. Inspired by the Hughes brothers directing team, he went through the LACC cinema program to meet filmmakers and learn the medium. After scoring many short films for LACC, UCLA, AFI and Art Center in Pasadena, he soon found himself composing for documentaries at the Japanese American National Museum with director Justin Lin. Michael went on to work with Justin again on his 2002 Sundance Film Festival official selection film "Better Luck Tomorrow" which was distributed by MTV Films. While in film school Michael met another Sundance alumni, Carlos Gallardo of El Mariachi fame. The two hit it off and Michael has scored three features for him and is currently on his fourth. After having the privilege of working with award winning documentary filmmaker Dag Yngvesson, Michael found the camera turned on himself. Mr. Yngvesson's current documentary places Michael's journey as the subject of his current project. After scoring a multitude of features, short films and documentaries, Michael has found his place in film scoring and continues to seek intriguing filmmakers and films to offer his craft.I got my layout at CleanupMyspace.com | More Myspace Layouts
