900 Ancestors

About Me

Originally called Tornado Alley, this band changed its name to 900 Ancestors in January 2009 due to a potential conflict with a band that had already been releasing albums elsewhere.Check out the influences section to see sort of where we're coming from musically. There is and was no intention of following in a very narrow, specific style but rather to create a charged emotional landscape with lyrics that at least capture moments in time or express the state of things inside or outside of ourselves. Yes, there is a melancholy tone to our music but also an urgency to exorcise or transform those feelings into brighter psychic energies. Our first record, Subtextual, is generally more sonically contemplative than the live performance so come and see us for yourself.
Artists we've played with: Unit 7 Drain, The Prids (2X), The Swayback, Stephanie J, Sedalia, Eyes Caught Fire (6X), Games For May (aka The Goddam Echo Mics), Transistor Radio Sound, The Archive, Reverend Dead Eye, The Hot House, Tarmints (2X), American Relay (2X), Seneca, Fenton, Low Men in Yellow Coats, The Bronz, Slim Lizzy, Thank God For Astronauts, The Knew, Monofog, Dugout Canoe, Epileptinomicon, Lenny Chernilla, Underminer, Into the Ether, The Black Ops, Action Packed Thrill Ride, Red Cloud, Ghost Buffalo, Nightshark, Abracastabya (3X), Exra Kool (2X), Points, Rehab Hymn, Time, Thruster, Pseudokiss Masochist, The Silver Cord (4X), Outer Neon, Spiralling Stairs, The Old Haunts, Modern Creatures, Mutators, Spellcaster's Rock and Roll Time Travel Committee, The Vergers, Slight Harp, Hi Frontier, Valet Park This, The Slants, Sofo, Married in Berdichev!
