ACT UP Austin

ACT UP Austin applies a social justice framework to improve the lives and contribute to the self-empowerment of people living with HIV/AIDS. We renounce the myth that HIV/AIDS can be solved exclusively through public health policy. We believe that HIV/AIDS does not exist in a vacuum; therefore we must simultaneously fight the forms of oppression that perpetuate the AIDS crisis.We are a non-hierarchical collective united in anger and committed to direct action, agitation and the education of others, as well as ourselves. We apply creative tactics to confront and hold institutions accountable to the HIV/AIDS community.We will not stop until AIDS is over for EVERYONE.
