The Beggars' Guild:
www.myspace.com/thebeggarsguild
Drawing from classic influences such
as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, and Bruce
Springsteen, as well as more recent songsmiths like The Replacements, Counting
Crows, Del Amitri, and Pedro The Lion, The Beggars' Guild blends elements of
rock, blues, country, folk and pop into tunes that are honest, catchy and
distinctly likeable.
Their debut EP, "Breaking Me Down", released on the Favorite Gentlemen imprint (Manchester Orchestra, Estates) features a strong collection of songs ranging from the Roots/pop "Minnesota" and the title track, to the haunting, folk/country gem "21", and the driving rock of "Old Town".
"Breaking Me Down" was produced by Dan Hannon, who recently produced indie buzz-band Manchester Orchestra's "I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child" and triple Dove Award winner Aaron Shust's debut album "Anything Worth Saying", as well as his highly anticipated follow up album, "Whispered and Shouted". The band is currently in the studio with producer Chris Unck, who is producing Butch Walker's upcoming live DVD. The Beggars' Guild plays American rock without pretense. Great songs, great players, and an honest voice.
The SiXXis:

On June 6th, 2006, In Columbus, GA, The SiXXiS was formed. Founding member Vladislav Iskhakov pieced the band together through the studio sessions of Love/Hate Cabaret, the band’s first album. Self produced and recorded at The Loft Studios, Love/Hate found a devoted local following and landed the band a spot in the lineup of staple acts at The Loft, Columbus’ hottest spot for live, original music.
The following year, The SiXXiS relocated to Atlanta and immediately began recording a five song EP entitled Heartless Bride at Tree Sound Studios. Produced by John Holmes and mastered by Rodney Mills, the second release established a more diverse sound for the band, blending the heavy guitar riffs and vocal harmonies of Love/Hate with elements of Jazz, Funk, and Fusion.
“In a market saturated with simplistic school boy lyrics whined over equally simplistic guitar melodies, The SiXXiS put out an EP that is musically challenging for the listener†(Chris Tadsen from CSU Saber)
The diversity of musical influences allowed the band, when performing live, to play to a wider audience, capturing fans with fantastic acoustic shows as well as equally impressive electric performances that have left certain people wondering “…what just happened to them?â€, and “… how could their faces have been slayed so hard?†(Mark Willis/2008 Atlantis Listening Committee)
