Wolf Edwards(b. Montreal, Quebec)Formal studies began with classical guitar and music theory at the Victoria Conservatory of Music in 1994. He cites his guitar teacher, Alexander Dunn, as having been the first to introduced him to a number of 20th Century composers including Stockhausen, Berio, Ferneyhough, and Xenakis. In 1996 He applied for entry at the University of Victoria in order to pursue studies in music composition and theory. Upon completion of a Bachelor degree, Wolf moved back to his home town of Montreal to study privately with the great Quebec composer Gilles Tremblay. Two years later Mr. Edwards was offered Fellowship at the University of Victoria where he returned to complete a Masters degree in composition and theory under the guidance of Dr. John Celona(composition) and Dr. Herald Krebs(theory).
Since 2002, Wolf Edwards has been active writing music for many music ensembles and musicians from around the world as well as participating in a number of institutions dedicated to the advance of art, musical craft, and critical thought. These include ACANTHES(France), and the SCHLOSS SOLITUDE(Germany) where Wolf has worked privately with many composers including Wolfgang Rhim(Germany), Hilda Paredes(Mexico), Chaya Czernowin(Israel), and Pascal Dusapin(France)
In addition, Wolf performs, writes, records, and tours extensively with the anarchist Black Metal band ISKRA(www.iskra.ws). He also co-runs an anarchist book/record store in Victoria, B.C., where he currently lives, called BLACK RAVEN RECORDS.
