isnt trying to do anything...in september of 1978 brian eno dubbed the term ambient music. born in the same month, under the same stars, tanner menard's music embodies the musical zeitgeist of the ambient era. at the age of 11 menard composed his first works for piano and quickly established a reputation as a composer of minimalist music for orchestral forces. his 1999 work joe's last mix has been performed around the globe at distinguished venue's such as the midwest international band and orchestra clinic, the international festival of winds in association with the british association of symphonic bands and wind ensembles at the royal northern college of music and is released on kafua record's in japan. in 2005 menard served as guest artist at arizona state university where he curated an event commissioned by the arizona state university wind symphony, combining ambient electronica, contemporary guided improvisation, 8-channel spatialization and live computer processing. performed in frank lloyd wright's last publicly built structure, his work envyronie featured desert recordings by the legendary sound artist jeph jerman and a solo by the new york based hip-hop violinist daniel bernard romain. In 2002 menard was first exposed to the new noise and world of underground experimental electronica while interning at san francisco based recombinant media labs where he programmed kyma patches for naut humon. Since that time menard has worked extensively with ambient sound material and his recent work has moved from live installations and works for traditional instruments to studio works. he has collaborated extensively with jeph jerman with whom he is releasing a new meditational work entitled 'the now of sound' on archaic horizon records. often environmental in nature, menard's latest work exists in the sonic stratosphere, the highest and most imaginary harmonics where the real "music" takes place. primarily interested in conciousness, he uses the power of intuition and intention to manifest an invisible sound world of barely audible phenominon. no stranger to the pop music world, menard performed ambient soundscapes and designed interactive video patches for the pop band peachcake. through peachcake his work was seen and heard in such venues as the house of blues, the knitting factory, the great american music hall and the SXSW festival.tjm MyGen Profile Generator
