About Me

What about me? A publicist by trade, an artist by heart. OK not an artist; maybe a con artist. Chicks dig me because I rarely wear underwear, and when I do it's usually something unusual. (Stripes. Anyone?)
I have discovered that music is my life. I love listening to music - live music or some of my favorite bands on my iPod, in my car or even playing my guitar.
I work for a boutique PR agency in the Flatiron District of NYC and I love it. I am a rare breed in that I truly enjoy what I do, even though I work very long hours. Sometimes it is detriment to my personal life, but I am proud of my career. I don't really like suits and I work in a funky, hip office that does not require me to wear one, so that is a plus.
My personal style is definitely eclectic. I've lost 100 pounds since April 2006 and that has allowed me to really get into what I wear again. My personal fave is vintage thermals by Affliction Clothing - my newest obsession.
Anything else you want to know? Just ask.

My Interests

Depends on my mood. I love discussing politics, music, sports, and any type of discourse on cocktail recipes and wines. I also keep up with the media/publishing world since I work with a boutique PR agency. However, on the weekends you'll just as easily find me watching Meet the Press as you would find me reading the comics over a bowl of cereal. I enjoy traveling - my job has taken me everywhere from Cape Town and Durban, South Africa to Jamaica - more than 40 times - and all over the Caribbean and South America. Domestic travel too to some of my favorite cities and states (Denver-well, all across Colorado really these days-Chicago, Boston, DC.)

I'd like to meet:

Let's just say there are a number of politicians and poets that I would love to meet.

Music:

Alert to bands on MySpace. DO NOT send me your shitty music or try to add me as a friend. I will send you a funny (to me) and extremely rude and insulting (to you) e-mail that will lead you to question not only your shitty band, but your entire existence.
However, I am a BIG music phanatic. My musical tastes run from singer/songwriters like Jack Johnson and Matt Costa to little known bands like Portable Folk Band (www.portablefolkband.com) to white boy reggae like Slightly Stoopid and The Beautiful Girls to phunk rock soul like Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO, LAG, Django, etc.) and G. Love to jam bands like moe., Benevento Russo Duo (and G.R.A.B.), Umphrey's McGee, Phish, String Cheese Incident, MMW, Particle to the new modern rock, like Death Cab for Cutie, to your basic rock bands like PEARL JAM (the newest CD ROCKS), Foo Fighters, Everclear (old school EC), 311, (OLD) Green Day - none of this new shit rock opera whiny politico fag music - to Rage Against the Machine (RIP). I also still cannot let go of my 90's alt-rock staples, like STP (reuniting for Boston's River Rave in June!), Soundgarden and all the bands from that era. I'll also cop to being a big Dave Matthews Band fan, not really his new stuff though.

Movies:

Action, drama, comedy, documentary, sadistic horror movies...whatever. I fucking love movies. Lately I am obsessed with 300 - fucking incredible.

Television:

Thanks to the DVR, I can record some of my favorite shows and catch up whenever. Prison Break, Two and a Half Men, (which sounds like a gay porn movie), October Road, The Big Bang Theory and Grey's Anatomy are some of my scripted faves. For "reality shows" I like The Moment of Truth and Celebrity Rehab. I get sucked into watching AWFUL movies sometimes because I get every channel in creation. Lately, I cannot leave the living room if The Air Up There with Kevin Bacon is on. Oh yeah, it's pretty bad. Ever watch Office Space en Espanol? If you don't SPEAK Espanol? I have. Also, I am into reality TV. I have to admit...I am into the Real World. I know, I know...

Books:

"Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret"
"Go Ask Alice"

Heroes:

Heroes? Too many to list. At the very top of my list is my father, who came to the U.S. from Italy with a few bucks in his pocket and a working knowledge of the English language. He worked 50 years in a bakery and managed to put four children through college, put food on the table and still find time to be a great father.

Imus Fired. Result of White Guilt. Is this RIDICULOUS or is it just me?

So Imus was fired by MSNBC today, succumbing to pressure from the "outraged" community leaders and liberal media that are obviously wracked with white guilt. So, now that Imus is fired, racism and mis...
