About Me
I grew up in the little town of Raritan, NJ which, btw, is famous for 1 thing and infamous for another. The first is WWII Congressional Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone. He is the first US Marine to receive this honor. And in 2010, HBO and Tom Hanks wil release a mini-series about him, so watch for that. The second is for challenging the right of free speech by enacting a law that makes use of vulgar language in public places a crime. Not that I am a proponent of vulgar language, but, it just happens to be the town's other claim to fame. 'Nuff about that. The guitar? I began playing guitar at age 9. I actually started on drums but my parents quickly figured out there is no volume control, so they bought me this plastic Sears guitar. I just kept playing and then they bought me a nice acoustic. Rock n' roll got me early when I was about 7 years old. My older sister had the only good stereo in the house. Being able to beat her home from school, I locked myself in her room as long as I could and wore out her Black Sabbath, CSNY, and The Who albums pretty quickly. My first concert was Janis Joplin, just a few months before her death. That, coupled with my growing fascination for rock music, were the events that led me to play guitar. I love Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. After a bout in the business world, I left the dog-eat-dog corporate climate to pursue a music career. Many successes, and a few mistakes along the way, have made me a savvy and respectable presence in the local scene. The various projects that I have been involved have opened for major acts such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Johnny Winter, Jeff Healey, Rick Springfield, Patty Smyth & Scandal, and Black Market Radio (w/Peter Cornell) to name a few; in such venues as The Starland Ballroom, The Stone Pony, The Stanhope House, NJ Performing Arts Center, CBGBs/Kenny's Castaways/The Lizard Lounge (NYC), The Tin Angel/Grape Street (Philly), as well as performances in the Austin, TX, LA, Mexico and the UK.One of the things that I attribute the most to my success is avoiding negative people and dealing with talented and positive people; those who can deal with you face-to-face, even more so when there is a difficult matter involved. Know that the quality of your friends will always be more important that the quantity. Believe in yourself and be the best you can be and the best will come to you. Everything else; put it in the trash.
