About Me

I love music. I love art. Growing up in a family full of musicians, it didn't take long for me to figure out what i wanted to do with my life. The more difficult part has been, and continues to be, figuring out how to go about it. So, that is, I suppose, where I am now. I play the piano and write songs. I wrote all the songs that i have up except for the last one, "It Could Happen to You", which I wish I could take credit for but alas the genuis behind it is infact Cole Porter and not me. I recorded that recently when i was visiting my home sweet home, Austin, TX. My uncle Brian and i liked to play that together so we decided to record it. And i think it's pretty cool, you know, if i do say so myself... he, of course is the one tearing up the keys. "Like you told me", written by yours truly, is also me and some of the fam. My mom, Victoria and my sister, Meredith are helping me out with what we call the fe-vocs (that is female vocals, BGVs, you know...), my uncle Brian is again doing his thing, or thang rather, and my step dad, Paul's got the rhythm. "Why" was also written by me, and my brother Brian (www.myspace.com/brianbandas), not to be comfused with uncle Brian (you can call him little Brian if you want) and Pete (www.myspace.com/waterboyrecords) produced it. "Arrows", was recently recorded with little Brian, although I wrote it about a year ago.I'm so excited to say that i will have an actual EP soon for you!! Brian and i are working on it so expect that in a few months. As I mentioned, I am blessed to come from a large family of musicians and music is pretty much my life. I hope that soon i can say that and mean that it's my job, but not quite yet. Anyway, I would really love to know what you think of the songs! seriously!

My Interests

Music:

Influences: I think everything I've ever listened to has had an influence on my music. When I was younger, I liked to study the "belters"- Mariah and Whitney and such. i was kinda obsessed with singing like that. I've always loved R&B, old and new. Then when i started writing i listened to a lot of Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morissette, Jewel, that sort of thing. Now I like to check out anything i haven't heard before, and of course return often to what i've always loved. Some of my favorite artists are Alicia Keys, Bjork, MuteMath, The Fugees, Tracy Chapman, Michael Jackson, Heather Smith, Lauryn Hill, Joss Stone, India Arie, Elton John, Dido, Prince, Muse, Stevie Wonder, Diana Krall, Audioslave, Flickerstick, Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Bob Marley, Shakira, Bright Eyes, The Mars Volta, Ben Kweller, Erika Badu, Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, The Beatles, Natalie Cole, Louis Armstrong, Corinne Bailey Rae, Over the Rhine, Jack Johnson, Jonny Lang, John Legend, The Cardigans, The Black Keys, Amy Winehouse, Sade, Pink Floyd, Feist, And i definitly can't leave out Waitin on Eddy. The lead singer (then Vicki Bandas) has to be my number one musicial influence, vocally if nothing else :) (that's my mom, if you didn't pick up on that..) And of course my brother Brian and Love and Theft and all the wonderful musicians that i am surrounded by and learn from daily.
Sounds Like: I've gotten a few comparisons... but what do you think?
