Once upon a time, in a forest far, far away...
Actually it was the city of Keuruu in 1998. 3 guys, who nowadays call themselves Raato, Haaska and Hukkapätkä, decided to explore the wonderland of music. Seventh grade had begun. They had lessons in music. Something struck them hard. All the chords and stuff. ’What sorcery is this!?’ Something totally new for the no-gooders.
The dumbass-trio discovered many fascinating instruments, before finally found their own. Next came the greatest discovery of them all. Heavy metal thunder! ’This is for real?’
Well, the trio never got anything ready. Actually, they never even tried, really. Group played under a lot of different names (not to be mentioned here, though. The shame is still.... unbearable.)
Finally, in 2001, a good friend of Hukkapätkä’s, started playing music for his own amusement. Thus, Werihukka was joined in the group. Before we noticed, we found the name Lycaon for the band.
Playing just for the fun of it, Werihukka composed a huge load of material during the years. Hukkapätkä started to experiment with lyric writing and after a while Werihukka noticed this is the stuff needed for his compositions. It became certain that the name Lycaon had nothing to do with the band's overall theme so the band was then named after the band's first song called Wolfhorde with an agreement of the whole band.
The music of Wolfhorde has past some serious changes during the band's lifetime. From the early influences of power metal to the present folk metal style and even thrash metal in between. Regardless of the changes the music of Wolfhorde has remained purely bound to personal feelings and recreating those feelings through beautiful music and metaphoric lyrics.
Somebody might ask, what next, a neoclassical folk black thrash metal symphony? We might answer: Perhaps.
We keep changing, we keep howling, we keep on going. We are Wolfhorde.
