Raoul Alexander

Raoul Alexander was born on the third of November 1985. Music has always been in his blood. He always listened to the radio as a little kid and got in touch with R&B music through his sister. So at the age of 10 he was influenced by artists like Brandy or Dru Hill. At the age of 12 he wrote his first song ever. He actually used the instrumental of "How deep is your love" by Dru Hill and added new lyrics to it. So that was his first writing experience. Astonishingly he started writing in English even though he was born and raised in Germany. At the age of 14 he became involved with hip hop and actually started to rap with some of his friends. His brother and some of his brother..s friends made the beats and he used to rap on it. During that time he also had his very first performance at a high school party. Raoul kept on making music and got to know a female R&B singer called Joann. Raoul and Joann immediately did a song together in 2004 where Joann sang the chorus and Raoul contributed 3 Rap-Verses. But at this time Raoul didn..t listen to that much Rap anymore. He fell in love with R&B again. One big reason for that was the purchase of one CD in the summer of 2004. He bought the self-titled debut album of a 14 year old R&B/Pop sensation called JoJO. Raoul was so amazed by this girl..s voice and her whole album that he decided to sing again. Raoul Alexander was also and still is influenced by artists like Usher, Donell Jones, Jagged edge, Mario, Lloyd and Chris Brown. So in 2005 he recorded one of the first songs for his self-titled album that eventually came out in 2007. It was a song called "You are the one" on which he collaborated with the R&B songstress Joann once again. They recorded the song on the hottest day of 2005. It was in July and it must have been about 100 degrees outside. In the studio probably even hotter. The year 2006 was a year where Raoul had to slow down on his music for a while because he had to graduate from high school. After sucessfully graduating from high school and getting his high school diploma he was able to focus more on his music again. Besides working on his album Raoul decided to take professional dance classes in order to improve his dancing skills. In 2007 Raoul came up with his self-titled debut album. There are 12 songs on the album. The album is a great mixture of beautiful R&B ballads like "You are the one" or "I..ll be there for you", mid-tempo songs like "Ya boyfriend" or "Beautiful" and uptempo songs like "That girl from Miami". Raoul traveled to Atlanta in August 2007 in order to go labelshopping and making the right connections. In Atlanta he also participated in a V-103 radio contest with one of his songs. In December 2007 Raoul shot his first music video to the song "The One" starring a very talented songstress called Hannah.
