The Keane Brothers

About Me

The Keane Brothers were two young musicians of barely 12 and 13 years who hosted their own PRIME TIME TV VARIETY SHOW on CBS – (KCAL) in 1977. The Youngest Artists to Ever Host a National Prime Time Network Television Series, Tom and John M. Keane have continued to contribute greatly to our TV, music and pop culture over the past 30 years.
As children, Tom and John Keane were uniquely talented, playing a combined total of eight instruments by the time they were only 11 and 12 years old. They wrote, composed, sang and had incredible stage presence, charisma and a large fan following in the mid to late '70s.
The much sought after Keane Brothers made repeated musical guest appearances on shows such as: Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, The Tonight Show, Mickey Mouse Club, Razzamatazz, Bill Cosby, Wonderama, Hollywood Teen (Jimmy Mc Nichol), and many public venues and State Fairs in key music markets throughout the U.S., including: Las Vegas, New York, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles. They also made guest appearances in popular variety television shows in England and their song "Sherry" topped the charts in Canada.
Tom and John Keane were the "ORIGINAL" boy band of the 70's. As young professional musicians, the Keane Brothers were pioneers of a shift in paradigm, and the music industry didn’t know quite how to manage their talent in terms of audience selection and promotion. Not bubblegum musicians, Tom and John preferred to work in projects where their musical talents were taken seriously, as they performed at or above the level of adult music professionals. The Keane Brothers were placed in same line-ups with classic artists like Andy Williams, Betty White, Charo, and many other renowned artists and musicians of the day.
In 1981 Tom and John Keane went on to form the ORIGINAL band "KEANE;" following a more melodic rock format, featuring band musicians such as Mike Millwood, Mark Moulin and life-long friend Jason Scheff (Chicago). Their albums were released in Japan, where they grew a new and distinct following. Westcoast music lovers across Europe and Japan still seek and enjoy Tom and John Keane's music.
During the 80's and 90's Tom and John worked as studio and session musicians as well as composers and arrangers for names such as: Celine Dion, Chicago (the Band), Jermaine Jackson, Chaka Khan, Kenny Rogers, George Benson, Olivia Newton John, David Foster, Patti Labelle, Sheena Easton, Jeffrey Osborne, Michael Boulton, Richard Marx, Kenny G, Christian, Castro, Taylor Dayne, Barbara Streisand, Julio Iglesias, Mari Hamada, and many more. You can find more information on this at: www.keanebrothers.com
Eventually, Tom and John continued in separate artistic directions, both delving in television and film scoring projects such as: The Secret of My Success, the Sentinel, Martial Law and Diagnosis Murder, and also continuing to compose, arrange and produce music.
Today, John M. Keane is the original music composer for the runaway TV Series C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigation). Tom Keane is a composer, producer with his own label and production house, Diversified American Music (D.A.M.) in Los Angeles.
