I can't begin to imagine/ what would happen if music wasn't apart of my life/ the notes make the melodies/ the melodies... serve as backgrounds for the non-fiction stories that make up the soundtrack of my life/ while my affair with this thing, may be just a fling for you/ this beauty is needed in order for me to function properly/ it brings me closer to GOD/ releases my frustrations/ fills me with hope/ removes temptations/ encourages me to reach for the stars and be where the rest of my people are/ the greatness that makes up this melanin of mine transcends space and time/ the freedom riders/revolution inspirers/the ministers of sound who have left an aural legacy/ Ella, Miles, James Yancey,Lou Rawls, Luther Vandross, Ruth Brown, James Brown, Gerald LeVert and many more remind me/ that there is supreme truth and unconditional love in store if I... diligently apply my foundation with the tools I am given/with every listen of every lyric, I am reminded that I am my first lover and my second (music) is my redeemer/ clothing for the dreamer/protection for this believer/ this love I have is encoded into all that I touch/ now if only I could meet someone that could/would/will love me just as much as I love music Copyright 2007 - TMM
