JIWE began when a Slovak musician and a German with an obsession for disco balls inhaled Nitrous Oxide at a dirty Hackney basement party in the early days of 2007 and Jesus appeared to them to ask for their contribution to the world. Stunned and enlightened by the experience they decided to bring joy to the people in form from unpretentious relaxed and occasionally mental club nights around England. “Oh Jesus Oh Jesus why is London nightlife not living up to the rest of this most amazing city in the world” they screamed and, since you have to cut out the rotten part of the apple before it spreads, they moved to the heart of all evil, Shoreditch. Shocked by girls uniformed in leopard print leggings, shades and hangover hair with the occasional “The Hoff” T Shirt to show how cutting edge they are and pretentious bars constantly repeating their 120min shopping center house remix and charging £5 for a rum n coke they decided to start their mission there and then.
DJ Pete Shepherd started his djing career in 1993. In 2001 he established his very own - VIP booking agency and started to organize Very Interesting Parties and become one of the best promoters in his country. In 2003 moved to capital city - Bratislava and started running the oldest website dedicated to rave scene - called rave.sk, well obviously and became a part of the biggest events such as Bee Free, Disco Tv, Pohoda festival to name, but the few. Peter is a perfectionist, one of a kind who can never get satisfied with what he have achieved. After het got invited to play in Germany in 2005 he was so close to UK borders that he couldn't resist to pay a visit to his dj mates in London. After that he left everything behind and moved to the UK for good. Since then Pete Shepherd played the fancy Soho bars as well as dirty clubs of Shoreditch where he made some friends. After a year of spinning records (and just and only records) at The Social, Jam bar, Trafik, The Pool, Cafe 1001, A10 Russian Bar bla bla bla bleugh… With his 2 friends he established a regular rather crazy banana night on two floors of club called Fluid (next to Fabric) called CoincidanceLIVE.Everything seemed to be perfect until 9th of Jun 2007 when on the way to the club his Honda Shadow got hit by the car. Jesus appeared to him again. Apparently it wasn't his time yet, but still he felt like this was not the right direction..so he stopped partying 4 days a week with his pals and after 22 surgeries finally decided to calm the fooock down..best somewhere by the sea.
Pete Shepherd resettled to Brighton to enjoy the shitty English weather seaside and host regular nights supported by a number of trusted international guest DJs.
yes YES your saviour is near: He found BRIGHTON sinful enough to establish his one very own night called Dirty Habits. He's also co-promoting Czecho Slovak Sound System night, presenting the underground sound of wild wild east. They play a blend of dirty house and techno in all electronic varieties and everything else they like and makes you dance.
