"The move of mind is pulse intelligence!"

About Me

I live in New York and am a rooted artist on its lower east side. I have had experiences amongst the best of musicians and artists....I have been either on the bandstand or in the studio or elsewhere with some of thte most illumed minds of the brighest beings....stars and planets. I say that I am the originator of 'djuke music'. The name comes from the Wolof language of Senegal and means to "get up!"....This music is a pulse beat jazzed cast kind of experience....something sub-cultural....a direct place for astro black blues. It brings together male and female (as it includes female energies) with edged comment and sensual style. The 'X-Ray Search Light Project' remain studio efforts that lay a sense of foundation for the pulse beat trans-ic codes of the 'djuke' soundscapes. I am also 1/3rd of the trio, now a 5 piece band, called 'Cartoon Satellite' (myspace/cartoonsatelite), which features Nick Gianni (myspace/nickgianni) and Dalius Nojo the genuis on drums! On Mu Music (ASCAP) releases my catelog which now has an index of 28 titles. These releases will be available all over soon.....visit my site OnMuMusic.com for more pages of interest. What my concern now is is to launch 'Djuke Obbo' (myspace/djukeobbo) and reveal the amassed body of work that characterizes 'djuke music'. See also: (myspace/djukemusic). Most recently, I was featured in a string of radio/webcast for wkcr 89.9 fm, the station of Columbia University (wkcr.org), with dj Charles Blass. A feature program which debuted the group 'Djuke Obbo' and subsequent programs for tributes to Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and Alice Coltrane.

Band Members: Artists featured on On Mu Music releases (ASCAP) have included; Marie Afonso, Luther Thomas (LutherThomas.com), Tom Augsberger, Greg Lewis, Adam Feller, Electric Meg (Worldlyvibe.com), Radu Ben Judah, Jojo Kuo, Francis Mbappe, Felice Rosser, Wakeisha, Tess Marsalis, Andrew Lamb, Juini Booth, Matthew Shipp (matthewshipp.com), Daniel Jodocy, Chantal Ughi, Kadiatou Sibi, Nick Gianni, Dalius Nojo, Jerome James, Khusenaton Shu Amon, Sabir Mateen, Nizomi, Bopa King Carre, Sonny I, Ritchie Admiral, Magama, Charles Bobo Shaw....
Influences: My music is rooted in a multi-faceted space. I was trained as a concert artist on the guitar, so I have that background. I have released a cd on the On Mu Music (ASCAP) catelog of my playing on 'A Classical Guitar Recital of Spanish Music', featuring works of Sor, Tarrega, Ponce amongst others. I was probably most recognized for many years as an element of New York's lower east side edged artists community, where the music that spawned the ranks of musicians who fill the Vision Festival events (visionfest.com)...aka avant garde/free jazz.....caused for an unique identity and sub-cultural attribute. However, stints with Sun Ra and Don Ayler earlier on helped to set foundations and points of view. Fela was an aquaintance...people who directly affected me in strong ways...but I love really everthing and listen to everything..and that is the truth.....country is not my preference, but listen to it to keep my fingure onthe pulse...but what I love most is hard funk styles with high intensities and a big sound.
Sounds Like: .....jagged jazzes over eliptic pulse beats...captivating....mesmerizing.....like chewing aluminum foil.....
