About Me

The idea of an extreme metal band took three workmates and a Evergreen Terrace song to heat things up. Joe (guitars @ Among the Shadows), Emmanuel (drums @ Retrieve), and Hiram began rehearsing and gathering ideas on September 2006. Along with Tony (bass @ Among the Shadows / Organic) in guitars, the band adopted the name Decadence after deciding on playing Death Metal music, the most influential genre within the band’s members. The very first song was entitled God Incorporated, a general point of view towards the “Gospel of prosperity” (this song was never played and has been recently musically re arranged and re written). A few weeks later, Emmanuel left the band due to some personal reasons. Two months passed by and stress was starting to surface since the band couldn’t manage to find a drummer to fill the void. Just before a temporal shutdown, Hector (drums @ Overdoom) joined the band and rehearsals restarted in January 2007. In just a matter of four reunions, the band managed to complete four songs and a cover (Vader’s “Carnal”) in order to perform a debut show on February. Just week and a half before the debut show, Luis joined the band to play bass and help speeding a musical brainstorming. The band’s name then changed to Carnal Devourment in order to deliver a stronger statement. Politics, religion, morale, and social issues are some of the lyrical themes that Carnal Devourment blends with Thrash, Brutal Death Metal and even Black Metal influenced music.
Year 2007 brought the band some underground recognition, especially within the Hardcore scene. Carnal Devourment has been one of the few local Death Metal bands to gain this type of respect while sharing stage with With Open Force, Infectoria, From Darkness To Light, QDS, Donnie Brasko, Los Brothers, Perro Enfermo among others. On November 2007, the band was invited to join a compilation project released for free download by Death Frog Studios. The title “Symptoms of the End” was made part of this release and portrayed the band’s concept to newer crowds in the new year to come.
Year 2008 was practically the band’s peak point so far, maintaining recognition within the Hardcore scene, but gaining recognition on the Underground Metal scene as well. With these new horizons, Carnal Devourment enlarged their friend list and shared stage with local talents Dantesco, Sacrilegio, local DM titans Voracious, Necronemesis, Sacred Guardian, In Emptiness, Outbreak Hate, Last Wish of a Dying Man, Intestinal Fermentation, Alas Negras, She Screams In Pain, Mantarraya, Organic, among many others. By mid year, Luis was replaced by Carlos on bass. On September 6, 2008, the band had their first shot to newer public serving as opening act for NYDM’s RECREATION. On October 25th, Carnal Devourment performed one of their biggest and most memorable shows ever at the legendary Placita de La Juventud in Caguas: The Underground Unleashed Metal Fest, which exceeded assistance expectations and redefined the concepts of organizing Rock festivals. Since this show was so memorable and left people something to talk about, the band got to perform again at another crowded show in the same place two weeks later. On November 15th, Carnal Devourment got their second opportunity to serve as opening act, this time for New Jersey’s MORTAL DECAY at S.O.S., Catano. This got to be the band’s last show before a 5 month recess.
Year 2009 started with a band restructuring, new logo and a new set list. Orlando replaced Tony at guitars and the band reappeared on April 2009 at Last Wish of a Dying Man’s EP release party. Two weeks later, on April 18th, Carnal Devourment served as opening act for California’s PHOBIA and NJ’s OMINOUS at Soprano’s, Catano. By May, SouthGround Records offered the band a place in their family along with Last Wish, Outbreak Hate, Pit Fight Demolition, She Screams in Pain, Hanamachi, etc. On June, Carnal Devourment began recording what will be their first full length album “And The End Shall Strike With Fire”, which is expected for release on Fall 2009.
