Based in Kassel, KOMMERZ is a small collective of artist people, spending pretty much energy on printing shirts/ inventing things/ doing exhibitions/ sewing purses/ making zines/ drinking coffee/ having a good time/ doing pictures/ setting up gigs / whatever. It all started in 2005, just before a nice yard sale; we stayed awake nearly all night, producing lots of funny stuff in our kitchen and collecting everything that looked like making money: 2nd hand records, old clothes, old Super8 stuff, selfmade bags, Buttons… "Kommerz" sounded like the straightest name to our goal – getting rich and famous through other people who we wanted to persuade by absolutely liquoring them up with the cheap vodka we were going to sell that day. It was a huge success, and we even sold a few things! After that we went to the city center, trying to fake flyers for the federal elections the next day and thus boosting a straight debut to the world of capitalism and new media.

We're planning a 'pirate bar' (yesyes: just like 'pirate radio') in Kassel in the summertime: selling artsyfartsy stuff and good drinks from the back of the bike - watch out! And, sorry Tom: we're not a band, though we exactly know what all the funky stuff is about.
