About Me
DLJ lives?
Ladies, gentleman, established members of the community, scene kids, and MySpace whores:
We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of our favorite musical ensemble, Drive Like July. But beforewe get into that, let us define what Drive Like July really was. In the dictionary, the word 'drive' is defined "tofrighten or prod cattle into moving in a desired direction", the word 'like' is defined "to feel attraction toward ortake pleasure in", and the word 'July' is defined "the seventh month of the Gregorian calendar." So what do weget when we put these three words together? I really don't fucking know. But I do know that when these threewords are combined, you are in for a treat.
DLJ is comprised of five key elements:
First off we have Ryan, the sassy front man who don't take no guff from nobody.
Then we have Chuck, this songstress with the grace of a swan flows through each song like dew on a leaf inearly Spring.
Next we have Jeff, who provides a pounding bass rhythm section, and from time to time has been known tocreate some tom-foolery.
Next we have Derek, he plays drums.
And lastly we have the newest member of the band, Tony. What can be said about Tony that hasn't alreadybeen said about New Jersey... he stinks, and he plays guitar upside down.
But DLJ isn't about the members, it's about the music, that these five members have crafted over the past twoyears. You have to look deeper inside the songs to find their true, and thought-provoking meanings. It's notabout taking a tumble while skiing down a black diamond, it's not about fishtailing cars, right into theneighbors fence, it's not about the big dipper, it's about finding a greater sense of hope and being, andmaybe, just maybe, one day we will discover the secrets locked inside of DLJ's music.
Maybe it won't hit you tonight, maybe not tomorrow morning, but one day you are going to wake up and realizethere isn't a Drive Like July anymore, so enjoy this evening, for it will be the last time that our good friends DLJwill ever play their songs for us. If you take one thing away from their music, let it be this... maybe you too canfind yourself an elf.

Drive Like July
Based out of Quincy, MA, DLJ has spent the last two years dishing out their spin on rock to Greater BostonArea and beyond. Starting with just Greg, Matt and Ryan, DLJ spent this first year and a half finding the perfectbassist and drummer to complete the band. Thus, Jeff and Derek were found. Since then Matt has steppedaside to focus on family and school and work behind the scenes of DLJ. Anthony was then picked up asMatt’s replacement and he has fallen into place seamlessly. Together these five gents combine the speed andraw power of punk with the melodic guitarmonies of late 80s metal together with catchy, story-like lyrics andcome up with what some are calling "addictive", "amazingly energetic" and downright "awesome!"
DLJ consists of Greg- Lead Guitar and Screaming, Ryan - He Sings, Anthony- Rhythm Guitar and BackupVocals, Jeff- Bass and Backup Vocals, and Derek- on Destructive Drums . Keep an eye out forDLJ's debut CD to come out in mid 2007 and look for them this winter as they work their way through theNortheast providing the rock to the masses!
