OK, my friends, for those of you who have asked here's my life story: Born in Tennessee, raised in Texas, currently living in Florida. I've lived in many places across the US from California to Colorado, from Virginia to North Carolina courtesy of the US Army. And let's not forget my overseas assignments in Korea, Turkey and one or two other locations.
Some of my best years were road racing- first with Peugeot and finishing with Team Mazda. Lot's of time on the road going from hotel to hotel but what a great time! Following my 'retirement' I picked up mountain climbing, adventure racing, target shooting and kayaking as a pastime. Now riding my Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic to bike rallies in Daytona, Leesburg or Sturgis is what I enjoy. And of course geo-caching (current US & World record holder). Traveling- Maine (August '07), camping in old Mexico (July '07), cruising to the Bahamas (September '07), and Wa'chuari (Mexico, Feb 2008). Future trips include Europe in the Summer of '08 and maybe Spain (Runnning with the Bulls) 2009? With all this travel when will I finish my book? Well, I've been working on it part time for two years now... why rush? For the past 15 years I have served with the fire department. Public safety is a wonderful career choice for those who enjoy experiencing something new and exciting every day you report to duty. Sometimes routine, sometimes exciting... but never a dull moment. I would not trade this choice for the World.Who is Zatoichi? Zatoichi is a fictional character featured in one of Japan's longest running series of films and a television series set in the Edo period. The enduring popularity of the character has been likened to that of James Bond in Western countries. Unlike Bond, however, whose character has been portrayed by a long list of actors, Zatoichi has become almost synonymous with only one actor: Shintaro Katsu. The only other actor to portray Zatoichi on film is Takeshi Kitano, after a hiatus of almost 15 years (and the death of Katsu).Zatoichi seems to be only a harmless blind anma (masseur) who wanders around the country making his living by gambling; however, he is also highly-skilled in swordsmanship, specifically iaijutsu. He does not carry a traditional katana, instead using a well-made shikomizue (cane sword). Shikomizue were generally straight lower-quality blades which could not compare with regular katanas, but as revealed in Zatoichi's Cane Sword, his weapon is nearly superior to one as it was forged by a master bladesmith just before his prime. A recurring theme of both the films and television series is Zatoichi protecting the innocent from oppressive warring yakuza gangs, and general injustice. His fighting skill is incredible. And I take his name in honor for my geo-cache efforts. Thanks for taking the time to look at MySpace.
