About Me

I am Angie Simmons. I am the artistic director of the Evolving Doors Dance Project, an emerging modern dance company in Boulder, Colorado. (You can check out the company itself at either of two sites: www.myspace.com/evolvingdoorsdance or www.evolvingdoors dance.com/index2.php) I dance professionally with 3rd Law Dance Theatre. I also teach modern dance at various location around the Boulder/Denver area to children and adults. Lastly, I am a Certified Massage Therapist, specializing in the treatment of dancers and performing artists of all kinds... but I treat other professionals as well!Hmmmm... my background..... I grew up in Centralia, Illinois. If you aren't familiar with it, you aren't missing anything. It is small. I earned my BS in dance education from Illinois Sate University in 1998. Following this, I relocated to a town near Minneapolis, Minnesota. I designed, directed, and taught the curricular dance program at Rosemount High School. Additionally, I founded SoulAxis Dance and Performing Arts Company, a collaborative and creative outlet for high school students. I dance with various choreographers in Minneapolis. I eventually moved to Boulder to pursue my MFA degree at the University of Colorado, which I completed in 2004. I followed that directly with a year of massage training at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy and completed my certification in 2005.I have had the pleasure of dancing with artists such as Katie Elliott, Gabe Masson of Gabe Masson Dance, Kim Neal Nofsinger, Laurie Merriman, Tom Evert of Paul Taylor Dance, Toby Hankin, Nada Diachenko, Betsy Maloney, Lynda White, Taryn Packheiser, Megan Flood, and Maruisz Olszewski, among others.
