Monsoon started his DJ career in 1987 playing at private parties, talent shows, and special events.He grew up listening to all different genres of music, from Earth, Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight, James Brown (RIP), John Coltrane, Sugar Hill Gang and Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five just to name a few.While in the military, he went into retirement, but it was something about the evolution of Hip Hop with songs such as Push It Along (A Tribe Called Quest), Paid In Full (Eric B. & Rakim), My Ninety-eight (Public Enemy), Push the Button (Nucleus), Potholes in My Lawn (De La Soul), and You Got's To Chill (EPMD) that inspired him to return in the late 90’s.In 2001, DJ Monsoon emerged onto the Atlanta scene blending old school and jazz, ripping up the Atlanta club scene at SPF 15, Studio Central, Level 3, The Aquarium (Club Flava), The Atrium and The Savoy in Buckhead.In 2002, DJ Monsoon was featured with DJ Dubb a/k/a Scott Free (Bronx, NY) on the “Saturday Night Eargasm†mix show which aired Saturday nights from 8 pm until 10 pm, on the Clark Atlanta University radio station 98.1 FM WSTU.In 2003, DJ Monsoon revisited his mix tape roots with the release of Brown Suga vol. 1, Brown Suga vol. 2, Timbs & Throwbacks and Enemy of the State. Most noted for blending old school, underground, reggae, go-go and house, he continues to keep crowds wondering what he will come up with next.In 2004, DJ Monsoon added producing to his arsenal. His ability to create a new sound has enhanced various artists’ delivery and will take Hip Hop back to it's true form. He currently is producing a national pool of unsigned artist under the auspices of the National Underground Association (NUA).In 2006, DJ Monsoon continued his mixtape saga with the release of Southern Exposure, I-20 State of Mind, The Resurrection of the Mixtape DJ, and Art of War.In 2009, DJ Monsoon hooked up with Bone Diggy (B-more) so the saga continues.....
