Resurrection Guitar Co.

About Me

Resurrection Guitars started as a stringed instrument repair shop in the early 90's. In addition to doing repairs and restorations on guitars, they also built a few guitars for people that couldn't find what they wanted in their local stores. Pat started repairing instruments as a youngster in NYC as a hobby. He built a few Hagstrom copys and a tenor guitar in the late 70's with a cutaway. He continued building guitars through out the 80's as mostly a hobby along side of building custom sport fish boats in South Florida. In 91 he built a guitar for his son Tim who had just began to play guitar. It was a tele style guitar with a strat set up. Pat had an accident that cut the tendons in his left arm. He lost the use of his left arm and started to repair instruments for mostly Tim's friends who played music. His left hand was rehabilitated and he teamed up with another instrument repairman named Robin Venturini. This was the start of a massive repair operation that was born in Jensen Beach. Resurrection Guitars was attending many guitar shows and that was when Steven Cripe and Pat met. They both had similiar backrounds in the boat and woodworking business. They left the show and weren't seen for the the rest of the day. Pat was amaZed at the woodworking and artistic skill in Cripes guitars and Cripe was amaZed that Pat could make a 5 pound guitar sound so good with massive sustain. They became friends soon after and talked shop often. Unfortunately Steve was killed in an explosion in his shop in Trilby Florida. Pat and son Tim finished some of Steve's guitars and by 98' they were considered the authorities on Steve's work. By studying his instruments first hand and seeing and using many of the jigs and tools that Steve designed they had a massive amount of insight on how Steve built his guitars and the evolution and direction he may have been heading. In addition to building their own model of guitars, Pat and Tim with the permission of Pete Cripe built their first replicas of Steve's instruments for clients that had been in contact with Steve before his death. They went fulltime into the custom guitar business and took only major restoration work on for repairs. In 2004 with the direct hit of hurricane Frances and Jeanne 3 weeks apart tore apart their shop. A move into another location came early in 2005. As of September 2008 Resurrection Guitars is finishing up construction on guitars ordered and not taking on any new orders until the new shop is built and set up in 2009.
