Mike Kourmanos (aka Michail) hails from sunny Rhodes, Greece. His musical education began at an early age, studying piano, synthesizer and electronic organ at Yamaha Music Foundation while later on he studied musical theory and harmony at an advanced level.His first encounters with production came in 1995 after acquiring his first synthesizer and experimenting on various beats, remixing well-known songs of that time and producing various styles of sequenced music to share with his friends.His influences come mostly from the 80’s. Renowned artists like Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, Level 42, New Order, Kraftwerk, Air, Jean Michel Jarre, and Kitaro have always provided a diverse, inspirational palette for productions that sound innovative, even for today’s standards.
In the early 90’s he discovered a true passion for DJing and his on-decks experience was to shoot rapidly throughout the next years. He has been collecting vinyl since the age of 15, when he started playing in various private parties as a guest, mainly spinning house and trance.Arriving in the UK in 1997 was a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the massive underground club scene which was thriving at the time. His 4 year experience there was enough to shape his unique DJing and production styles. Visiting numerous UK superclubs and vinyl stores, holding weekly residencies, spinning tracks around the country in private parties and organizing student and charity events has been a musical journey that anyone would most certainly appreciate.Upon his return to Greece his DJing focus is placed on various venues, massive beach parties and online radio sets. Having recently completed an online course on music production at Berklee Music College, he finds himself most of the time in the studio fine-tuning his production skills while also collaborating, producing and doing remix work, which is currently available on digital labels and supported by DJs around the world.
