Destined to soon make his own mark in the world of music, JR
has come a long way from the ugliness of Northwest Milwaukee’s
underbelly. A soul survivor of the hood, JR was born in the heart
of a concrete jungle where today's rubbish piles of bricks
represent torn-down colonies of houses and buildings once
overrun by prostitutes, drug dealers and dope fiends."My pops was out there selling dope, pimping hoes and I am the
the product of that,†JR recalls his upbringing.
"Bein light skinned and from the hood is crazy, I had to earn respect."Although emerged in ghetto living, JR refused to let his
destitute environment take him under. This enduring dream
chaser sought music as a way out. “I would freestyle walking
up and down the strip waiting for some money to come.â€
“It kept me moltivated.†JR had a natural flow, but the game
got the best of him, and his life got put on hold. Realizing he
couldn’t win in a game he loved. He focused on the music and his
talents for it.In a one-man, grassroots campaign to expose his music to the masses,
JR would service his neighborhood traps with homemade CDs
of his music. Pushing single after single in local clubs, at area flea
markets and on street corners, JR is a self suffient entertainer.
I had to learn everything, because i didn’t have the bread to pay
everyone to do it for me. Whether it’s the block or the
booth JR will continue to grind-Grind Mode
