About Me

..
You have been marked on my profile map!
My layout was made specially for me by my daughter, Sundae . Images courtesy of Photobucket.com . Please be kind and leave it behind!
I'm 52, divorced, father of four wonderful children, and GRANDfather to one...so far. My oldest daughter, 22, is an Army veteran (like me), and she lives in Georgia with my granddaughter. She and her soldier-husband are getting a divorce. Before Iraq, he was a nice guy; now he's a dick. I have three other children: daughter, 20, who lives with her fiance; son, 16; daughter, 15. And my granddaughter is 2! The youngest two, along with oldest, live with their mom and step-dad outside Atlanta. Me? I'm in Southern California, in the Inland Empire--hence, my URL.I am a veteran of the United States Army. I am not a combat veteran; Vietnam happened when I was in junior high school, and I was in the wrong place to participate in Grenada. My duty assignments over my seven years in have taken me from South Carolina, to Massachusetts, to Texas, to (West) Germany, and back to Texas. And no, I was not a medic or nurse in the Army; my occupational specialty was in Military Intelligence. My family, in fact, has served in the American military since the French & Indian Wars. As I like to say...We have fought for, bled for, and died for this nation, since this nation first began. Catchy, eh? I've served a total of 14 years: 7 in the Regular Army, 3 in the Army Reserves, and 4 in the California National Guard. I was on the streets of Los Angeles during the riots of 1992. The Army called it "Operation Garden Plot". The troops called it "Ghetto Storm." In fact, my former display name, "California Dragoon", is the nickname for my old Guard unit, the 1st Squadron 18th Cavalry.Professionally, I'm a Licensed Vocational Nurse, which is known as a Practical Nurse in most states. I'm the senior charge nurse in a Skilled Nursing Facility (a 'SNiF'), and I run an Alzheimer's/dementia unit. In fact, all my ladies (LOL my CNA's, I think of them as family) call me "Big Daddy"--well, the Latinas sometimes say "Papa Grande".Spiritually, I'm a Christian, an American Baptist. I don't shove my beliefs down people's throats, however. Everyone has the right to believe as their faith dictates; I have the right to believe they're wrong. LOL Yes, I think homosexuality is a sin, but I do not condemn gays over that; fornication is a sin too, and I've certainly done that enough times in my life.Politically, until recently I referred to myself as a conservative Democrat, or more accurately, a political oxymoron. But I changed over to the Republican Party. If I go liberal, I'll be another oxymoron. Not anytime soon, though. As for my heritage...hey, I'm American! My mother's family came here from Sweden and Denmark. My father's family is primarily English, with a strong connection to the Wyandot Nation; additionally, there are also French, Spanish, Italian, Saxon, and Welsh ancestors...even a Russian czar! My dad used to say we were "Scotch-Irish-Dutch". We may have some Scottish and Irish blood, but no Dutch. Sorry, Bonzo. I know what I am: Euro-mutt!I'm a little bilingual too, but in German, not Spanish. LOL I grew up in a city that is over 65% Hispanic, the majority of my neighbors were Mexican, and the only Spanish I can speak are the cuss words!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Instead of saying who I'd like to meet, I'll say whom I've already met. I used to deliver Arrowhead bottled water in the late '80s, and I had a lot of celebrities on my route. Here they are:Jamie Lee Curtis, Pierce Brosnan, Howard Hesseman, Penny Marshall, Season Hubley, Michael Beck, David L Lander (Squiggy), Peter Frampton (70's guitar god), Sheena Easton, John Kay (of Steppenwolf), Melanie Griffith, Waylon Flowers (of Waylon and Madame), Sela Ward, Kent McCord, Chris Lemmon, Stephen Collins, Taylor Hackford. There's probably more, but at my age you expect me to remember ALL of them?I also met President Bush--the elder Bush--during the LA riots.
