R-Jay Albano (born May 7, 1982 in Manila, Philippines), better known by his stage name RTIST, is a hip hop rapper from San Jose, California. RTIST is currently under the umbrellas of GO BIGG Music Group and DA FAM Records.
During his years in high school (James Lick), RTIST developed a passion for hip hop. He was involved in grafitti, break dancing, and being an mc. He started a hip hop club called, "Four Elements". This allowed students who had the same passion to come together and demonstrate their skills and talent.
In the year 2000, RTIST recorded his first song called, "Somewhere". He created a strong buzz through out the United States. His unique style opened many ears, and listeners learned to appreciate his artistic ability. Affiliated with Scum Bag Ent. RTIST was featured in the 50th Anniversary issue of XXL Magazine (August 2003).
In 2006, RTIST made a bigger buzz. He entered "The Battle of the Bay Showcase" and surprised many with his performance and lyrical content. He placed 3rd out of 32 competitors. RTIST's showcase included Loop Kicks (Martial Arts Tricks Team), The Architekz (Hyphy Dancers), Housing Authority, Staynless ( SJ Rapper), and Cel One (DA FAM Records). After this showcase, RTIST was invited by DJ Manaikal to perform with some of Bay Area's favorites like Mistah FAB, NUMP, Furious, Schweez, Bailey, J. Valentine, The Jacka, and many more at 94.9's Summer Bash Concert. It was a sold out event with over 2,000 people in the crowd.
RTIST has released, "Artistic Musik Da Mixtape" (2005), "Made In The Bay Mixtape" (2006), and is currently finishing up "RTIST Da Mixtape" dropping soon.
RTIST is a new sound in the bay area scene. He is working very hard to get his music heard. He wants to reach the international market and get a fan base in Europe and Asia. More info. on RTIST coming soon
