FLIGHT OF THE TEMPEST LP out Oct 08'.
It's a unique musical trip that echoes the past and looks ahead to the future- but is right here right now.
Kicking off with a cut & paste ode to Hastings,"Home Sweet Home", followed by the stripped down hammond funk of "Leave That Ol' Devil Alone" and the deep aural jazz of "Broken & Battered"- both tracks now available on a limited 7" single! While "Catch My Soul" mixes swampy New Orleans funk with block party hip hop and "What..s the Matter" has that lowdown lazy southern soul shuffle, featuring the bluesy voice of Josophine Hope. Tracks like "Bring It On" and "Brown Allegro" take the classic hammond funk combo and reshape it with the addition of steel drums and vocoder, respectively. "The Present" starts out as surreal & funky lounge groove when it suddenly transcends into an extended Afrobeat jam. And "Flight Of The Tempest" sounds like an action Bollywood funk theme, layered with sitars and ethereal voices.
"Root Canal" comes over like an informal live in the studio jam with the ever present hammond leading the band, complemented by DJ Morals on the ones & twos. The album..s final track, "Champagne Ideas On Beer Money" is an amusing concoction of laid back funky jazz and Gallic Accordion music.
The New Mastersounds "Hole In The Bag" Drawbar Remix. We are proud to announce we won The New Mastersounds/Beatsource remix contest.
“This is the perfect remix - Drawbar have honed in on the funkiest parts from the original bass, drums, guitar and hammond tracks and created something even more tasty.
It totally rocks! We will be working with these guys in the future.”-The New Mastersounds.
The track will be available to download & theres talk of a 7" too so keep em peeled.

Drawbar: leave that ol' devil alone(OUT NOW!!!!).
(COUNTERPOINT RECORDS)
Following on from the amazing response received from their debut 10' single, ..The Present.. (Counterpoint CRS025), Hastings.. tripped out combo, Drawbar, are back with a double hitter 7" single that will give you another little taster off their debut album, ..Flight Of The Tempest.., scheduled for release this October.
A. Leave That Ol.. Devil Alone- Is a stripped down gospel funk excursion, with just hammond organ, bass, drums and occasional horns stabs driving the groove. Lead vocals by bassist/producer, Simon Ham, are suitably menacing considering the conent (don..t mess with the darkside!!). Listen out for the spooked breakdown halfway through. Good God almighty!
B. Broken & Battered- is a highly charged slab of cinematic jazz. Fluid upright bass lines and hard jazz drum rhythms lay down the foundation for the orchestration (haunting strings, flute & muted trumpet) to create suspense and drama. Sax maestro, Rob Leak, weaves his magic on top as the track builds and cascades to a dramatic finale.
