Where do I begin.....Well born in the sixties and growing up through the "GLAM ROCK" seventies was tough going. I'm going to upset a few people here but never the less, it was dire ! I mean, come on, the charts were full of records like nappy-love by the goodies and Ernie by Benny Hill etc... Until radio Luxemburg saved my life. When in 1975 I listened to a 15 minute track by the German band Kraftwerk called Autobhan, I knew then I was home. Inspired over the next few years by their kling-klang antics and at the age of sixteen in 1980, I purchased a secondhand thomas organ, a home made beatbox and an old valve amp with speaker, just as Numan, Ultravox, the human league were hitting the charts. Alas With no MIDI capabillities back then I quickly struggled and my new found hobby was given up in favour of a normal job Sailing the world in the merchant navy. It was'nt until 1995/6 when I picked up a copy of Future muisc magazine on Liverpool St station to read the Kraftwerk interview inside on my way home from somewhere, that I also found an interview with Orbital within its pages. It BLEW me away and it made me again think that hey! I can do that, so I set about it! Well, the truth is, I fail miserably to emulate my musical heroes but what a learning curve I've had given that I knew absolutely nothing about music production, pc's/macs, or even how to play the damned keyboards in the first place let alone the mine field that is MIDI. Since then however in 1998 I attended the Islington Music Workshop and attained a diploma in music technology. Also around this time I picked up some positive feedback from demo's I sent to Future music mag under the name of "Depth Of Field", this helped alot but again in 2001 my choons took a back seat. I desperately wanted to collaberate with someone, thinking two heads to bounce idea's between was a better route. But locally I found that I was the only person doing what I was doing. Anyway Sham's back !! I'm currently working on around 10 new choooooons! Sound no Sound being one of them. I don't consider any of the tracks I've placed here on this site as finished, they are merely ideas. (old ideas now at that lol). That said if anybody out there likes what i've done and thinks they might be interested in a collaboration feel free to get in touch.Current kit list: (although dated now) Roland JD800, Roland JP8000, Roland JX3P, Korg X3, Novation Bass station, Akai S2800 Sampler, Boss DR660 Drum machine, Various outboard effects rack mounted units, Yamaha MX400 24-4-2 mixing desk, Tascam DA20MK2, PC running Reason/nuendo.Well thanks for listening to this old geeza waffling on and I hope you can hear something of some good in these old tracks. All criticism welcome good bad or ugly! Regards Sham.
