The Infidelles

About Me

"In a world of "pop" divas, corporate music, and cut-out idols, the Infidelles are the revenge of cool.
Seemingly nobody was informed when Jack White and Amy Winehouse were bred in captivity some twenty-odd years ago. But the products, a group of garage-soul teddy-mods who were obviously injected with enough Who, Shirelles, Howlin' Wolf, and Phil Spector to sink an off-shore pirate radio rig eventually came to distinction as the Stu Sutcliffes of the Memphis Delta and the only white rock band that the urban youth has embraced in decades: The Infidelles.
Imagine Brian Wilson (circa Pet Sounds) ripping off Larry Williams and mixing it with conservative amounts of R&B drenched ska; then the Motown obsessed garage-rockers, who exclusively covered that tantalising secret album would be the Infidelles. This savage young band which was once more heavily influenced by Jump Blues, Rockabilly, Doo-wop, and Skiffle has broken through the restrictions of labels such as “retro, throwback, or vintage” and are attacking the listening public with an original battery of new soulful pop-rock that threatens to become the latest earworm of the masses.
Is the roots underground ready for a Mersey Beat-esque invasion? All tourists, teenagers, and old blues-men so far say "Yes" but whether these amorous rebels can pull off a Billboard Hot 100 sweep led by their young just-weaned-off-alternative-rock fans and with involuntary funding from a shocked old-guard of Delta purists has yet to be seen. One thing is certain however, and all comparisons to The Fab Four and The Knack aside, the Infidelles perform some truly powerful pop.
The group is four (soon to be five) single and fancy-free young blokes from Memphis, TN. With a name conjured up in a urinal, these hellraising hooligans have been subjecting the region to their exciting blend of Big Beat, Pop, R&B, and "whatever else suits them" for about a year and a half – ever since Mick Parrish’s European tour with Little Richard fell through and he was left bandless.
Let me introduce to you the one and only Phenomenal Phive: Mick Parrish (guitar, vocals, composer, piano and harp), Erik Griffin (guitar, vocals and co-arranger), Justin "Browny" Brown (tenor and baritone saxophone, and co-arranger), Billy J. Morris (bass and backing vocals.), and a soon to be announced drummer clandestinely rehearsing with the group.
The band is going into Willie Mitchell’s Royal Studios the week of June 2 to record their sophomore full-length album, Bad Guys Can Be In Love. They already have a self-produced EP, The Infidelles, as well as one full-length album, Catch The Infidelles, under their belts. When talking about the material for the new album, Mick Parrish says, “The time is right again for songs with a hook. I’ve written a billion terrible songs but fifty good ones and this record will have at least twelveof them!”
If you’re looking for the new sound of cool, then the garage-soul sound of the Infidelles is the best there is, but remember we warned you: you’re really in for it…"
