All things Dinalicious and/or uberfab.
Please ignore my non-fabulous URL. I was 17 when I came up with it.
Probably not you.
I'm passionately in love, to a degree that crosses over to obsession, with great music. If you'd like to know what I consider to be "great music", (since I'm too lazy to type a bunch of names that few people will bother to read anyway) simply refer to the playlist located to your right. :-)
I like dramas, Disney Princess movies, a good film noir, some foreign films, some period films (especially the really visually stimulating ones), good indies, comedies, some "chick movies", sappy romantic movies, "old movies". Something that either entertains me, makes me feel something profoundly, or both. I'm not good with horror movies since I'm more than a little squeamish. Sometimes I become very pretentious and watch lots of artistic films, and sometimes I want to be entertained with an orgy of CGI, and of course, there are the times I want something in between. I can put up with something that lacks a plot if it's visually stunning. Likewise, I can enjoy a meaningful movie that might not be so visually stimulating. Honestly I can watch just about everything but I don't really care for some of the movies that have been released in recent years, especially the crappy remakes and most of the parodies. Random movies I like: Godfather (part II is the best and III doesn't bear mentioning. Whoops, I did just that.), American Beauty, The English Patient, La Dolce Vita, This is Spinal Tap, most Marilyn Monroe movies, anything Monty Python, O Brother Where Art Thou, Casablanca, Judd Apatow's movies, anything with Audrey Hepburn, almost all Hitchcock movies, The Notebook, anything with Cary Grant, Ghostbusters, the Superman movies (I haven't seen the new-ish one.), the original Star Wars movies, actually any of those movies that remind me of my childhood (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I remember busting the sickest moves to that shittastic Vanilla Ice song), Labyrinth, etc.), Barefoot in the Park, Dazed and Confused, all the John Hughes movies, The Princess Bride, Clueless, anything with Humphrey Bogart, Lost in Translation, The Pianist, anything Kubrick, anything made by Mel Brooks, anything with Lauren Bacall, anything with Rita Hayworth, just about anything with Natalie Portman, just about everything Tim Burton ever made, Almost Famous, Ocean's 11 (original version and the remake), Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Moulin Rouge, Shrek, Amelie, most Tarantino movies, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, The Incredibles, the South Park movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Jessica Rabbit was an icon of my childhood.), anything Polanski ever made...and so on and so forth. I hope I never become the kind of woman who watches Lifetime movies.
I don't watch much TV. When I do, it's usually something on the History Channel (preferably when they're not talking about Hitler(Yes, I understand that it's important that we never forget about the Holocaust so that we may continue to learn from it, so please don't even start with me because you're preaching to the choir, but there are so many horrors occurring every single day around the world that we never hear about, and it's just as important that we learn about them and learn from them as well. Also, there are so many amazing things the History Channel could be doing programming on that are positive and could be enjoyable and informative. Okay, stepping off my little soapbox now.)), National Geographic, Food Network, Travel Channel, almost anything in HD (especially that program that shows sunrises around the world and the travel, culture, or nature programs shown in HD), Comedy Central, Cartoon Network (Adult Swim), Bravo, et al. I usually like to watch things I know I can learn something from. Otherwise, I channel surf until I can manage to find something decent. Usually I end up turning off the TV. Youtube has all but taken the place of my television.
The last very good book I read was Love in the Time of Cholera. I love poetry... Some of my favorite poets are Pablo Neruda, Arthur Rimbaud, and Edna St. Vincent Millay. I love Shakespeare (Apparently he wasn't the writer, though, but I'll still continue thinking of him as such.) I also like some more contemporary literature like Kiana Davenport, Kurt Vonnegut, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I grew up reading most books that are required high school and/or college reading, so now I make up for it by reading cheesy romance novels and chick lit when I'm sick. I really do love to read. I will literally read whatever I can get my hands on. The Golf Almanac, medical texts, the back of a cereal box, etc.
People who help others. People who stand up for their beliefs. Strong, giving, generous, kind people. People who inspire me to be a better person, myself. Respeck, check it, etc. (I just love Ali G.) =P
Samberg continues to amaze me.
