About Me

.. ..

We've come to a point where not having a MySpace profile makes you an even bigger weirdo than the fact that you spend hours away from reality tweaking this dang ugly page.
So here you go... I gave up to the pressure and the trend, and now I have one too...

BASIC BIO STUFF:

Since I am an old fashioned guy, who prefers meeting people at bars, gigs and parties, or not meeting them at all, I'll make this introduction as short as possible, and leave the rest to real communication:

I play the bass since 1993 am basically a metalhead, always have been, but also I have played a lot of hard rock and similar stuff, even powerpop, and have studied jazz played bass for the Hungarian blues legend Bill Deak, and am to this day a very good friend of Bill. can read notes, and YES, I can write them too. You could say I am musically educated. As a matter of fact, I am. have played in front of 4 people have played in front of 100 000 people At the number of 300 I quit counting my gigs. That was in mid-2004 Participated on about a dozen-or-more records as a bassist, helped as a sound engineer on couple, and have even recorded a lead-guitar track on one occasion (demos not included) have never played the guitar. I have been a bassist from the very beginning. am a music theory freak. I can bend the universe just by continuously substituting functions, mostly dominants, but don't use that quite much, for I still think heavy metal is the law! Thrash metal especially... am a guitar FX freak. I have far more FX pedals than shoes... am known for generously lending my 1962 Fender Precision Bass to almost anyone who has ever asked for it to do some studio recording have played in an Iron Maiden tribute band and am damn proud of it! Steve Harris is the ONLY bassist that can play Iron Maiden better than I do.

OTHER FACTS:

Johann Sebastian Bach is the Alpha and the Omega of music. Period. DI boxes SUCK! Overdrive is cool Belgian beers rule Bourbon, not whisky! Drugs are for pussies! I have never even tried that bullcrap, and am very proud of it.

ABOUT THE UPLOADED SONGS:

    Nisam znao
This is a live recording with the band Charlie B. This song is quite different than most of the other Charlie B songs, as this one is much heavier, and much less jazzy. That's why I like it. Burning Icons
This is also a live recording, but with Grate. This recording features the original line-up of the band, with me on bass and Damir Markovic on vocals. Flood
Another Grate song, but this time a regular album track. To be honest, I don't quite know why I picked this song, as all of them are dear to me, and the bass sounds equally simple but massive on all tracks. I could have picked any other song from the album, however this one is not featured on the official Grate profile. Wretched Fate For All
A track from Tales of Dark...'s "Perdition Calls" album. I had already announced my departure from the band when I recorded that album, but I did my best on the bass tracks, and enjoyed recoding them very much. I am not the exact funeral-doom-metal bass player, and this track shows it, but I think I've managed to add a little bit of my personal touch to this album. Probudjen tisinom
This is from the album "Prizori" that we've done with my ex-band Corpus Delicti. It was recorded in 1999, and this was my first serious "full lenght" studio recording. The album was entirely recorded in an old-fashioned "shut up and play" style. I believe that the bass tracks for all the 12 songs on the album had been done in no more than 30 takes all together. Unfortunately the album has never been officially released.
I like the bass on this song. It has a bit different approach than the rest of the album, with that distorted precision sound in most of the song. That sound has since become my basic sonic approach. Zlocin
Another track from the "Prizori" album, this time with a more traditional sound approach (except for the weird bass-intro), and with a cool slap groove in the first part. Omnis Moriar
This is a live recording from the 2006 Sziget festival in Budapest (Hungary), with my band Amok. No overdubs, no studio make-up. This smelly garage-like, 100% pure live recording is a slap in the face of the raging trend of over-editing songs in studio. I mixed this song in my bedroom using the legally stolen multitrack recording. You can hear the official studio version of the song on the official Amok profile , if you find this version too much dirty and smelly. Anyway, there is a short bass-solo following the guitar solo, and I thought the live version would be more interesting... Isten teste
A song from Amok's "Szent vér" album. I love this song very much, mostly because its middle part that's in 11/8.

I am planning to upload some more songs, but due to my serious lack of free time, this is what I could dig up at the moment...

ABOUT MY TOP FRIENDS:

There is simply not enough place to put all the people, dear friends, favorite bassists, favorite artists, bands I play or have played with, etc... all to my top friends, although I would love to. So I've decided to quit the two-dimensional concept, and start thinking four-dimensionally:
I'll change my top friends every once in a while, so that everyone gets an equal share, and no-one is left out.

Cheerz!

Band Members:

Here is an almost complete list of bands I play(-ed) with, somewhat chronologically:

    Jet Black

    (1996-2001) Sympatic
    (2000-2002) Deak Bill Blues Band
    (2003-2005) Amok
    (2005-2007) Amentes
    (2005-2009) Charlie B
    (2006- ) Tales of Dark
    (2006-2008) Grate
    (2006-2009) Anguish Sublime
(2008 - , no live performaces, nor any recordings done yet)

Some cover, tribute and jam bands:

    Dukeland
    (1997) Helloween Tribute
    (2001-2002) Iron Maiden Tribute Band
    (2002-2003) Aces 5
    (2003) Osmi Dan
    (2008- )

Influences:

When it comes to rock, it's Billy Sheehan, Cliff Burton, Steve Harris,...
Amongst all those jazzy, funky slapping dudes the first names that come up are Tony Levin, Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke... and in a less "iconic" meaning than those mentioned above.
And there's Steve DiGiorgio somewhere between the two worlds.
Strangely enough, but Zakk Wylde has had a noticeable influence on my playing, although he is a guitarist.

Of course there is a bunch more. Much more than space on this page.

Anyway, influences could as well be experiences, events, scenes, people, anything... so naming a few bassists is not that relevant after all...

Sounds Like: an earthquake!!!
