monkey see monkey do perform totally improvised sets of club music. All our performances and recordings are spontaneously created in the moment, so that while the focus is always the same, no two gigs are ever alike. Touching on house, hip-hop, broken beats, funk, jazz and ambient without ever residing too long in one area, we use a pool of some of the UK's finest drummers, as well as guest MC's, singers, horn players, dancers and artists as an integral part of our performance. Since our formation in 2007, we've supported acts such as Jazzanova, Bugz in the Attic, Bonobo and Amp Fiddler, and hold residencies at Leeds' flagship beats night New Bohemia, The Hifi Club's legendary Sunday Joint night and Fish Fry at The Jazz Bar in Edinburgh.
We've also created the Monkey See Monkey Do Film Club, which performs fully improvised live soundtracks to films, and premiered at the Green Man Festival 2008 with a showing of the classic Czech film, 'Valerie and Her Week of Wonders'.
