Heather Longstaffe

Twenty-two year old Heather Longstaffe has been singing her whole life… and there is really no other way to put it. She began her career by starring in a musical at age 7, and recording a children’s album at age 10. The Minister’s daughter fell instantly in love with the stage and was already writing songs in elementary school. High School was full of music… guitar, musical productions, and vocal groups. In addition, she began to discover herself as an artist.
By 2005 Heather was a full time singer. She was working as the featured singer in Jazz legend Ron Paley’s Big Band, hosting Karaoke, and singing in several cover bands. Heather also took a dive into musical theater to play the role of Delee in Smokey Joe’s Café for Rainbow Stage.
In 2006 Heather won first place in the Winnipeg Idol competition, performed at Dauphin Country Fest, and was the National Anthem singer for the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball team. She was quickly becoming one of the most in demand singers in Winnipeg, able to cover an incredible range of styles from Big Band to Country, and Jazz to Rock. However, her heart always belonged to her songwriting and sharing those stories with an audience.
By 2007 she was handling all her gigging as well as another Dauphin Country Fest performance, a main stage spot at Minnedosa Rock Fest, and a featured spot at the U.S. Consulate’s 4th of July celebrations. Heather also started getting serious in the studio, penning several songs with writer / producer Phil Deschambault.
In the past few months Heather took first place in the Astral Media Manitoba Country Star Search, and had an opening slot for Jaydee Bixby. She is thrilled to be busy with Toronto and Nashville wrting trips where shes had the opportunity to collaborate with some very accomplished writers. Stay tuned for more tunes!
