About Me

My name is Lars and I program a series at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown in Austin called Weird Wednesday. It's been going now for over six years. Thanks to our sponsors at I Luv Video we feature free educational screenings of rare, discarded, scorned films from the golden age of exploitation. Unlike some other series of this type we show actual film prints in all their dusty, scratchy glory. And we demand that the audience show the movie the respect it deserves by not talking or yelling during the film. If this sounds like your cup of tea join us every Wednesday night at midnight at the Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz, 302 E. 6th St. in Downtown Austin. www.originalalamo.com

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Bigfoot, Larry Storch.

My Blog

I have a different blog now

http://alamoweirdwednesday.blogspot.com/Subscribe to it. I will have many more posts about more than just the recap of the week's movie.

QUEEN BOXER

Again, fairly generic kung fu film, but that's like saying "fairly generic waterslide." It doesn't mean it's not a lot of fun.Thank god for dubbing. Good bad dubbing can carry you through all the slac...

THE ANIMALS

Like I said, this movie gives you rape, revenge, Henry Silva in a ridiculous rented wig and Keenan Wynn as a filthy degenerate. Both actors give fascinating performances. Anything else you may have go...

TRUCK TURNER

Last night's screening was so incredibly amazing that nobody in attendance realized that a raging hellstorm was lashing Austin the whole time. Hope everyone escaped major damage.Pardon my really hard ...

FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE SPACE MONSTER: Maximum Energy!!!

This is a classical bad movie. Not a classic exactly, but classical: it has all the elements that the first codifiers of "bad" or "camp" moviedom assessed. Happily our appreciation of these films has ...

THE (Raspberry) MOLESTERS

OK, I carefully appraise virtually all titles I show but I do often screen an unseen-by-me sexploitation title on the last Wednesday of each calendar. It has resulted in lots of good times for everyon...

The Guy From Harlem

There are all kinds of life lessons in this movie. For example, Harlem is the "experience playground" for anyone who wants to become a detective, but after a while you may need to leave Harlem because ...

TINTORERA: That’s Rogueish

So I hope everybody understands what rogueish means now. A picture is worth a thousand words but a motion picture is worth like a quadrillion.Sucks being a shark, or a sea turtle, or a ray anywhere ne...

SKATETOWN USA

This is such a loose, fun, weird movie. I love the fact that there were so many comics around with their own shtick. There's so much open-ended riffing that most of the gags don't have closure at all,...
