FAQ'S

What is Speed Dating?
Speed dating is where each person gets to meet everyone of the opposite sex in the room for 3-5 minutes and just talk. You will likely make a networking connection, a new friend or a prospective date.

What else is involved?
At a Groove Theory Poetry & Speed Dating event, we aim to make everyone comfortable and relaxed. This is a laid back and respectful environment. We play various mingling games so that everyone is willing to “open up”. Even the person that thinks “I’m really shy and I wouldn’t know what to say” has a good time laughing and opening up more than they’d expect to.

What kind of people will be there?
Other fly young singles just like yourself. These are a mixture of people who like to have a good time and are open to doing something other than the "typical".

Can I perform my poetry?
Sure. The theme for Groove Theory is obviously relationship related. If your poetry is as such, you may be able to perform. However, the open mic list is shorter due to the other things that will take place that night. Also, this is not limited to professional spoken word artist, anyone is allowed to perform.

Am I allowed to watch (and not participate)?
Of course. We have voyeurs all of the time.

Is it ok to come alone, I'm worried about being uncomfortable?
You will have the time of your life. No matter how shy, timid or reserved you are, you are guaranteed a laugh and you will definitely make a new friend. We welcome everyone. We've been told that we have one of the most welcoming vibes than any other venue. Try it...you'll love it.

Any other questions??

"Why Are Black Women Scaring Off Their Men?"

I received the following in an email from a "goode" friend back in July 2005. I thought it was very interesting. Interesting enough to keep and share almost 2 years later. What are your thoughts?? ===...
