I am a mom first with two adult children Becky and Adam. I am divorced. At first I thought this was a tragic end - but in reality it was a wonderful beginning. After my divorce (1998) from my husband of 23 years - I turned to God....something that had been missing from my life. For this I will be forever greatful to the whole situation. I have been blessed with the wonderful gift of forgiveness. I have emerged a new person. I love to travel and have been to Germany, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, and Switzerland and have plans to see more of this wonderful world. I love gardening and animals. I had the unique experience to have a chimpanzee as a pet when I was 16. This was an amazing thing for me, but an exploitation of 'Thelma' - who went on to live thirty years in solitary confinement in medical research institutes - until last year when she was moved to a sanctuary in Florida and was outside for the first time in thirty years - thanks to the efforts of Carol Noon Ph.D. and her wonderful staff. I have created 'Thelma's Island' a non profit organization to assist the sanctuaries that house chimpanzees retired from medical research, entertainment, or as pets. I support Save the Chimps in Florida and Chimphaven in Louisianna. Life is good.
