About Me
Since an early age, has shown interest for traditional music, partly predisposed by the background of traditional flute making and playing in the family. Apart from having a wide role in the preservation of traditional Drum and Flute playing in his area, passing a long local knowledge of tunes and tradition to the youngsters, Bruno was hugely influenced by other music styles, such as Jazz, Contemporary Portuguese Music and Breton Traditional Music, extensively dedicating an emphatic look to the Irish Traditional Music scene. Flute, Whistle, Bodhran player and composer, Bruno has participated in several projects of Portuguese and Irish music. In 1997 he joined “Grupo de Cordas da Secção de Fado Associação Académica de Coimbra†which he represented in many performances in and out of Portuguese borders Was kindly invited in 1999 by Marsten Bailey, Bouzouki and Guitar player and record producer, to join the band Salamander, that counted with many performances and contributions from Portuguese and foreign musicians. Influenced by players such as Matt Molloy, Seamus Egan, Michael McGoldrick, Brian Finnegan, and many others, he also developed strong musical relationships with Marco Fonseca, Fiddle player (and twin brother), Luis Peixoto, Sebastião Antunes, Amadeu Magalhães and countless other musicians he thankfully has met in his path.
