About Me

I made up some tunes and put some words to them. They grew up into pretty good songs; polite, well behaved, a bit cheeky sometimes, a bit head-strong but, basically, good songs. But they can't make it too far on their own. They want to see the world but they just can't get a break. And I don't have the time or the voice or the band to give 'em the nudge they need. So, if you've got a place in your heart for a good song that needs a break. Maybe a spare track on your CD or a quiet five minutes in your set, take a few minutes to listen to my brood and see if there isn't something you can do for one of the little fellas.Just imagine the look on it's little face! You won't be sorry. Thanks

Influences: Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Lucinda Williams, Chuck Prophet, Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez, Randy Newman, John Hiatt, Nicolai Dunger, Aimee Mann (who should tour with Chuck Prophet in her band) , John Doe, Vic Chestnutt, Kelly Joe Phelps, Mark Olsen & the Creekdippers & Old Crow Medicine Show (both for sounding a bit like the Basement Tapes), Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, Calexico, Tom Waits, Lisa Germano (underrated 'cos she's gloomy), Kevin Gordon, Ry Cooder (best ears in popular music), Elvis Costello, Hacienda Brothers, Johnny Dowd, Alejandro Escovedo, Gram Parsons, Al Green, Hank Williams, Ali Farka Toure, John Hartford, Joan Beaz (elemental beauty), Terry Reid, Lyle Lovett, Little Feat, The Band. And, above all, Bob Dylan. These are some of my current favourites - to call them influences sounds like I think some of their magic has rubbed off on me. If only!
Sounds Like: Maybe somewhere in between Nick Lowe, Mark Lanegan, Lyle Lovett, Richard Julian, Leonard Cohen, John Hartford, Nicolai Dunger and Johnny Dowd.
