WE WOULD BE INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD ADD US TO YOUR TOP FRIENDS LIST SO PEOPLE WILL SEE THE PICTURE OF THIS CELLO AND HELP US FIND IT! We promise you that this page will not send out emails or spam or blog notices to you. This is NOT a ploy to get you to hear any music or check out any band - we are just trying to reunite a musician with her unique musical instrument and need people to view the picture and keep their eyes open for it! Thx so much for your time!
On a sad night in May of 2004, a weary NYC musician got out of a cab from a very late rehearsal. Before she could process what was happening, the cab driver sped off, forgetting that she had to get her cello out of the trunk of his cab. The cellist ran down the street yelling after the cab but it went too fast, and disappeared into the night.
Immediately, all the official reports were filed by Ursula (the cellist) and her friends - with the local precincts, with the Taxi and Limousine Commission, thru 311... whatever could be done. In the following days Local taxi depots were visited or called, flyers were put up... all with no luck. In the months that followed, none of us - neither the cellist nor her friends - could fathom that the cello would not be returned when it was discovered in the back of the cab. All the taxi driver had to do was return it to any police precinct... all cab drivers in NYC know they can have their companies check lost & found reports and get items back to their owners if a report is filed. Years have passed and the cello was never returned.
We still hope the cello will find its way home. It was an incredibly unique one and if played in public anytime, anywhere, would be identifiable. Please take a look at the picture here. WE APPRECIATE ALL MYSPACE PEOPLE ADDING US AS A FRIEND, ESPECIALLY AS A TOP FRIEND, SO THAT MUSICIANS AND MUSIC LOVERS THE WORLD OVER WILL SEE THIS.
Please note that it is an electric cello made by a luthier named Tucker Barrett and he is not making these cellos anymore. It was in a shiny black hard case at the time of being lost. It is not a valuable instrument like a "regular" cello but is of great emotional and sentimental value as the cellist played it for two decades. It kind of looks like a sled (i think) and is not at all like the generic yamaha electric cellos on the market. It is all of a heavier wood. One of the top pieces of wood was actually broken off but may have been repaired by whoever now has the cello. There is no serial number that we know of.
We appreciate so much that you took the time to read this, that you became our "friend" and please contact us via this page and keep us posted if you ever see this cello! There is a reward offered. We hope the myspace community can have the far and wide reach needed to bring it home!
Again, this is not a scheme to get people to hear any music or promote a band via a hoax - this is about locating a beloved instrument and keeping hope alive, that ursula can be reunited with her friend.
Thanks so much for your time! Sincerely-
Friends of Ursula's
