Hanging on to my mid-30s by ragged fingernails while trying hard not to warp or ensure future years of therapy for my children.Don't get me wrong, my misspent youth was all that and I've got no burning desire to be 16 again, but all the same: DAMN, it's a little disconcerting that the fashion and culture that dominated my youth (the 80s) is now back in style and available (at shockingly high prices) at "vintage" stores everywhere.Mom to two precocious and cool kids, I'm a city girl transplanted to extremely rural Midwest climes and platform boots do not lend themselves easily to mud and gravel roads. Yeah, and that dusty minivan is definitely not the car of my dreams. Used to the glances askance in this town of 800+ and I apologize for nothing (except what I really should -- I'm not totally unreasonable). So there.
