My past, like my present and future, is storied. Let me get that out of the way first. Now, that story began in approx. 1991? With my friends Karl and Jason, we began an adventure in home recording. I was born in 1981, so I would be about 10 then. That's probably not right. I'd guess it was more like 1993 or so? I know my voice hadn't changed yet, but I can't remember exactly when it did. Anyway, it was in 6th or 7th grade, and I know Dr. Dre's Chronic was out. How do I know? Because I went by the name of Scoop Dogg PhD, ingeniously combining the names of the most prominently featured artists from that record into one incredible super-name. Our group was Magnum 44. We would stay up into all hours of the night, exploring our new assumed identities, and delving into issues of "Spankin'", being "Trapped In A Body Bag", or "Trapped In Front Of A Wall."That Persona evolved into MC Scoop Dawg Cornelius, who would "Beat Ya Ass with A Bat" and who was "The Pimpin'est Pimp." I don't want to get into these song titles, or discuss their meaning or content, because I would rather forget they ever existed. But, we don't always get what we want, and this era of my life continues to haunt me. People loved the bravado and simple, poorly delivered lyrics, over the rhythmic hiss of the 4-track, triple ping-ponged, quadruple layered guitar riffs and double-time drums. But would they love MC Biggus Dickus? They didn't. and He didn't, or I didn't. She definitely didn't... So that didn't really last long. Then, I somehow became who I am today...And that story, my friends, is still being written...
