Following a lengthy period producing forgettable IDM, Hick Nurdman put his tongue back in his cheek and emerged from his bedroom in 2007 with turd polishing remixes for the likes of Lady Sovereign, Mika, Edison and The Droyds. An inability to DJ and a tight-fisted reluctance to buy records led him predictably enough to Ableton Live. His live sets are characterised by the same noisy beats and wobbly synths as his distinctive studio work and when combined with the visual spectacle of a sweaty young man hunched over a laptop furiously clicking mouse buttons become a truly devastating experience.
