About Me

Tyrnaround is a band from Melbourne, Australia that formed in 1985 and was active in the Melbourne music scene until the death of lead singer Michael Phillips in 1999. The band drew it's main musical inspiration from the British psychedelic scene of the 60s, especially The Beatles and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, and was highly influenced by 60s garage music, post-punk and progressive rock bands including Elvis Costello and King Crimson. XTC's psych-project band, The Dukes of Stratosphear, was a galvanising influence.
