Hi! My name is Ryan Heinlein. I'm a trombone player in the Kansas City area. I've been playing for 17 years now, I had my first paying gig at a bar when I was 15 and the rest was history as they say. You can see me regularly with my two projects, The Project H and the New Jazz Order Big Band. I'm also currently involved with the Kansas City Bone Company, Jazzhaus Big Band, Lost 80 and The Fabulous Shi(r)theads. In the past, I have played with such artists as: Ophil, Colossal, La Banda Hispanica, Lotus, The New Era Brass Ensemble, The Fabulous Flippers, Joyride Orchestra, Cruise Control, Rudy Love, The Lions All Star Jam Band, Mike Finnegan, The High Society Dixieland Band, Matt Wilson, Dave Pietro, Dave Berkman, The RA Quintet, The Tom Abbott Big Bang Big Band, The Harry James Orchestra, Michael Andrew's Atomic Big Band, The New Amsterdams, Ruskabank, Soul Machete, The Adjustments, Fiat and The Roomful of Walters. The Project H is a 5/6 piece group playing a variety of jazz, funk, reggae and blues tunes I have written over the past couple years. I wrote a few early tunes for a quartet I led in college. The bulk of my writing began while teaching high school band in Wichita, Kansas. I would find myself banging out chords on the piano at the end of the day to relieve the frustrations of running an extremely small band program. Those frustrations would lead to a few to chord changes, which led to melodies. A few sketches and rehearsals later, The Project H was born. I have written around 30 songs over the past two years and continue to grow as a writer/composer/arranger. If we are close by, this is a group you NEED to see, you will not be disappointed!
