In 2000, the great Jordan Wodehouse traveled to Syracuse, New York to attend Hellfest. When he returned home, he was a changed man- writing lyrics and music that I could not believe were being written by a seventeen year old kid. I was really, really into the stuff he was doing, but was already in a hardcore band and wanted Compromise to be more of a Deftonesy/rock band thing. Thankfully the weight of his art soon forced Levi, Ryan and I to give way, as the songs we would go on to write and the years we ran are still my most proud. As brothers and friends. A gang. The debut "Yesterday Was Everything", recorded in Calgary @ Sundae Sound basically started what would be a short, but bright flight taking the band across the continent numerous times. Relentless touring brought many line up changes and would ultimately be the bands undoing, as in the late hours of June 13th, 2002 enroute to Savannah, Georgia, a horrific accident would steal the lives of Jordan and Daniel, and seriously injure Braden and Ryan. Braden now plays in the post-rock band El Terran and runs a recording studio in Edmonton, I go to school, while Jr continues to rock n roll. A few months after the crash, in the warm New York summer night, someone put on "Yesterday was Everything" over the pa system at Hellfest. The whole thing was overwhelming, but I remember feeling a sense of accomplishment for Jordan and Daniel and being happy. Nothing would ever be the same, but I knew that part of them would never be lost and alot of what Jordan had set out to do, had come to fruition. Compromise was playing at Hellfest. -jz-2007
