Da Funk Junkies

Da' Funk Junkies formed in 2007, a.k.a nick and darren mears. They have been producing since 2005, mainly producing funky house and progressive house. Between them they have over 15 years of dj experience. Playing at various venues around the south coast, and further up country,along with various boat and fort parties.Nick has won a couple of DJ competitions in the past as well, winning a set of Technics 1200's and a Stanton mixer in a comp on the Isle of Wight, and a set and another mixer at Enzos nightclub (long since shut). They also successfully ran their own night at the Albert Tavern on Southsea Pier called Virtuosity,a progressive and funky techno night. Nick is well known for his amazing scratching abilities with both Nick and Darren working the crowd they are a formidible force! Their certain style when they play out can only be described as "proper funkee ass s**t !!", which is reflected in their production. All their basslines and guitar riffs in their mixes are played by themselves on bass and electric guitars to get a 'real' feel to their style. With their first remix out in 2007 on Fizzeek records of Steve Haines' Free 2 Be their hunger for producing good quality funky house music has grown and grown! With them taking a break from production in 2008 due to work commitments now in 2009 they are more determined than ever to break onto the House music scene, with interest from an array of labels and support from the likes of Stonebridge, Bassmonkeys, Jay Cox and various other DJ's for their music they are definately ones to look out for in the future!
