About Me
I am Son of Burundi, Child of Afrika and a Human on the face of the Earth. I was born and bred in Burundi. I left my home-country, Burundi at the age of 16 years old, to Kenya in mid-War, January 1995 as a victim of War ( The Country still trying to find lasting Peace after 16years Of War). It's only after 8 months in Kenya, almost fully recovered from the gun-wounds, that I got a Scholarship from an Oxford-based charity (The Hugh Pilkington Charitable Trust) to come and study in UK (BA hons Political Science & Economics) . I have been living in the UK for the last 12 years now.I am a self-taught musician with no formal music education. I play guitar, sing and write the songs. I started playing guitar as a hobby, as a way to give myself company in my room, but realize now it has saved me and made me a survivor. I have survived 11 years of not being able to go back home, not having a family around and the powerlessness of helping my people. Roughly around 2004, disillusioned from where i should find my voice, I started forming serious thoughts about music, as a definite path of life. I started realizing how powerful is the music platform to speak, express, release and communicate with a lot people. It is at this stage i started doing acoustic gigs around London venues (BarleyMo Bar,El Paso, Spitz, Cargo, Vibe Bar, 93feet east, bug bar, Ritz, The platform, Stratford theater, East London Live Music Festival, Streatham summer Festival, the telegraph ..ect).Throughout this time I experimented, learned, jammed (alot), formed, or tried to, ideas with different bands and musicians I got to know ( i should do more of..). But when I joined a full 8 piece band september 2004 for a whole year, Mantilla, as Lead-Singer and Song-writer, I got to experience the grand sound of a big band that was way off from my solo-acoustic performances. As Mantilla we did gigs around London: Cargo, Spitz,Woody's, Area10 and the high light gig in the Jazz Cafe in Camden. This Experience left me wanting more. After Mantilla, i tried to go back to my acoustic gigs and it did not feel as it used to be. I decided to do a solo Studio EP (Kira meaning Bless you or Heal ) with very talented Italian multi-instrumentalist producer Roby Meola. This year, 2008, i have had the best thing to happen to my music. I returned to my home country, Burundi, and got the chance to do a track (Agahengwe) in Kirundi (my language) and video for it. Got my EP Kira, the new Track (Agahengwe) and the videos playing on national Radios and TV stations. It (Agahengwe) has been Number One for three months in the charts. Very proud about it, especially to happen to me in my own country. And Now am in the process of Releasing my EP Kira, so people stay tuned and support.I am currently rehearsing and gigging with a new Band "mudibu & Lostchild" i just recently formed (from October 2008). Quite exciting sound, Rock-Reggae and can't wait to gig more. You can listen to the LOSTCHILD Demo tracksThank you a billion for reading. Come again and visit
